Dixon Championships - 2003

Berkhamsted Bowmen Dixon Memorial Club Championships

Members of Berkhamsted Bowmen gathered last Sunday at the archery range at Cow Roast to take part in the Dixon Memorial Club Championships on a very warm and sunny day.  This event is named after Bill Dixon, one of the founder members of the club.  Bill and his wife Carol were also instrumental in setting up archery at County and National levels.

This year the Gents Recurve Champion was Paul Dunn while Andrew Clarke took second place.  This result reverses last years positions.

The Ladies Recurve Champion was Barbara Anscombe.  This was the sixth year in a row that Barbara has been the Ladies Champion.

The Compound Champion was Barry Anscombe.

For those more traditional archers there is always the Longbow challenge. This year the Club Chairman Clive Haywood beat off the opposition to collect the trophy.

The last trophy available is the Derek Coils Handicap Trophy.  It is awarded for the best handicap adjusted score on the day shot by any of the other archers who did not win one of the main trophies on the day.  On this occasion the trophy was won by Bob Gasking.
