BERKHAMSTED BOWMEN TARGET THE GOLD
Members of Berkhamsted Bowmen have taken part in the Emson Day Tournament. The objective of this shoot, which is named after Barbara Emson (a founder member of Berkhamsted Bowmen), is to reward the most accurate shooting on the day.
The Emson Pewter Tankard Trophy (awarded for the best gold by a Lady or Gent Recurve archer) was finally won by Mr Gary Ansell. While the Emson Compound Engraved Paperweight Trophy (awarded for the best gold by Lady or Gent compound archer) was won by Mr Colin Stapley.
The Emson Silver cup (awarded to the archer who shoots the most golds on the day) was won for the second year in a row by Mr Paul Dunn.
Finally, on the last end of 6 arrows everyone can attempt to shoot the worst white for which the archer is awarded the prized carved wooden spoon trophy. This is not as easy as it looks and an archer can easily end up with an arrow that does not score at all in his or her attempt at hitting the outer most part of the target. On this occasion the trophy was won by Mr Peter Wiltshire. |
